Mercantile Claims are delighted to have helped thousands of clients successfully reclaim money from timeshares and holiday products that were mis-sold to them. We are one of the UK’s leading timeshare termination and claims management specialists and fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Today, we are delighted to share with you yet another successful claim for one of our clients who have received a settlement of over £15,000.

Their timeshare journey began in 2000 when they first purchased a timeshare unit in Tenerife. Although they felt initially happy with their purchase, as the years passed by they began to notice problems at their resort that were not being addressed. The standard of accommodation was deteriorating and when they complained, nothing was done about it. Despite this, the maintenance fees continued to rise, they simply felt this was not good enough and for the amount they were paying yearly, could find much better facilities at a lower cost elsewhere.

They eventually decided to contact the resort and seek a termination of contract themselves. The resort were less than helpful and it became clear to our clients they were not going to release them from their contractual obligations anytime soon. They had resigned themselves to the fact that they would be stuck in their timeshare for a very long time, until one day a timeshare termination company telephoned them out of the blue offering a realistic way to exit their timeshare for good.

Our clients agreed to attend a meeting to discuss how they could help. Initially they were told this would only last an hour and they would get all the information they needed to make an informed decision. This sounded very reasonable, they did not expect what happened next. Instantly they knew they had walked into a timeshare sales presentation styled meeting, with ex timeshare reps.

They were forced to sit through a 5 hour meeting selling a lifestyle and concierge package. This was a product they had no interest or need for, so they continued to resist the sales agents attempts to sell. However, the meeting continued and the price began to drop significantly. This became more appealing to our clients as they were desperate to end their timeshare agreement and stop paying the annual maintenance fees.

Worn down and exhausted, our clients agreed to purchase the product and were signed up there and then. It wasn’t until nearly 12 months later that they realised they had been the victims of a fraud, when they read in an online article that the owners of the company had been arrested on criminal charges. They straight away telephoned the company to get information and discovered the telephone line had been disconnected.

After discussing the shocking news with friends, they decided to look online to seek help and came across Mercantile Claims and happily for our clients, their nightmare experience is now over and they have received all of their money back from this fraudulent company.

People who enter into timeshare agreements often find it difficult to keep up with the mounting maintenance fees and simply cannot afford it any longer. They may also find that the Timeshare no longer suits their needs and simply want to end the contract. There are too many individuals who are willing to take advantage of Timeshare owners and offer fake products, along with Timeshare exit schemes. Before agreeing to any Timeshare termination or exit procedure with an individual or company, seek independent advice and fully research any company you are thinking of working with.

It is also important to remember that purchasing a Timeshare should NEVER be viewed as a financial investment. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays and family time together. There is almost no resale value to a Timeshare.

The mis-selling of holiday products is, unfortunately, common practice within the holiday industry and these type of crimes often go unreported by the most vulnerable in our society and criminal convictions are few and far between.

If you have purchased a Lifestyle / Concierge Service, a Timeshare or a ‘holiday points’ based product from a resort or company and feel unhappy with the service, or feel you have been mis-sold this product, please get in touch with us to discuss how we may be able to help you with a possible Money Back Claim.
