People who enter into timeshare agreements often find it difficult to keep up with the mounting maintenance fees and cannot afford it any longer. They can also find that their timeshare no longer suits their needs and simply want an end to the burden.

To make matters worse owners find they are also targeted by ruthless timeshare exit companies who exploit people who are desperate to end their nightmare timeshare experiences.

Here at Mercantile Claims, we have the pleasure of helping many clients reclaim money for contracts that were mis-sold to them, and today we are delighted to announce yet another successful claim for compensation for one of our clients who have received a settlement of £10,000.

Our clients owned a timeshare with MGM resorts and although the resort had changed hands over the years, they had enjoyed nearly 20 years of holidays with them. As they were both approaching retirement age, they felt they were less restricted and could holiday at whatever time of year they wanted. They began to search online and found that after paying the £1,500 a year in maintenance fees, they could find much cheaper holidays online.

Eventually, our clients were offered a free holiday to Tenerife, all they had to do was pay for flights. Whilst on this holiday, they were approached by a sales rep who offered them a fantastic deal for all their future holidays, wherever and whenever they wanted to go and also get them out of their timeshare agreement with MGM. The sales rep was very convincing and our clients signed up that day, convinced they had got a great deal.

Eager to use take advantage of their new membership, on their return home, our clients attempted to book a holiday to Canada, something the sales rep had promised they could do. However, they were not entirely convinced they had been offered a good deal, they checked online and found that they could find much cheaper and more luxurious deals themselves.

In fact, every time they tried to book holidays through their new membership they found much better deals themselves. When they complained, they were fobbed off and ignored. This rogue timeshare exit company made no attempt to compensate our clients for inconvenience or lack of promised services whatsoever. Eventually, they approached Mercantile Claims, who have had a successful claim for a mis-sold contract, and our clients have received all of their money back plus interest. When asked about the service they received, they said: “It was an excellent service, and Mercantile Claims kept us informed of the progress the whole way through, this was very important to us.”

The mis-selling of holiday products is, unfortunately, common practice within the timeshare industry. There are too many fraudulent companies who are willing to take advantage of timeshare owners and offer fake products, along with timeshare exit schemes. Before agreeing to any timeshare termination or exit procedure with an individual or company, seek independent advice and fully research any company you are thinking of working with.

It is also important to remember that purchasing a timeshare should NEVER be viewed as a financial investment. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays and family time together. There is almost no resale value to a Timeshare.

If you have purchased a Lifestyle / Concierge Service, a Timeshare or a ‘Holiday Points’ based product from a resort or company and feel unhappy with the service, or simply want to end your agreement, get in touch with us today to see how we can help with a possible money back claim.
