Mercantile Claims are one of the UK’s leading timeshare termination and claims management specialists. We have successfully helped thousands of clients reclaim money for timeshares and holiday products that were mis-sold to them.

We are delighted to share with our readers, yet another successful claim for one of our clients who have received a settlement of over £12,000.

Our clients had owned a timeshare in Spain and had enjoyed many years of holidays at their favourite resort. However, as time went on and maintenance fees increased they began to become increasingly frustrated with being tied financially to something that they were not able to benefit from as much and costing them more to use than the price of a regular, more suitable vacation.

Our clients began to explore ways in which they could exit their timeshare and approached the resort for help. The resort were incredibly unhelpful, they blocked every attempt our clients made to exit their contract and simply refused to sympathise with our clients position or help at all. All they would offer was a new points based membership which would end after a ten year period. Our clients did not want this and could not afford it. Unfortunately, they were forced to look for alternative relief and that is when they came into contact with a scam timeshare termination company.

It is important to note that not all 3rd party timeshare exit companies are unethical, but unfortunately, the nature of the timeshare industry encourages this sort of fraudulent behaviour. In fact, data compiled by Action Fraud revealed that in a one year period 1,155 complaints about timeshare fraud were confirmed by the service and the average loss to victims was a staggering £14,000.

Desperate to rid themselves of their timeshare burden, our clients agreed to attend a 2 hour presentation. It was at this presentation that our clients were forced to endure a whole day of high pressure sales tactics, eventually they agreed under duress and out of sheer exhaustion to purchase a lifestyle and concierge package. Along with this package they would receive a timeshare termination, it cost our clients an eye watering £12,000 and they had to take out a loan to fund this payment.

Our clients were advised that this package was of substance and would provide them with endless benefits like cheaper holidays and flights. However it soon became clear that the lifestyle and concierge service was worthless, they could not access any of the services and it became clear that the product was worthless and they had been the victims of a fraud.

In addition to this, they also learned that the company had ceased trading and were being investigated by police and trading standards. Luckily for our clients, they were referred to us here at Mercantile Claims. We are delighted to say they have received all of their money back, plus interest.

People who enter into Timeshare agreements often find it difficult to keep up with the mounting maintenance fees and simply cannot afford it any longer. They may also find that the Timeshare no longer suits their needs and simply want to end the contract. There are too many individuals who are willing to take advantage of Timeshare owners and offer fake products, along with Timeshare exit schemes. Before agreeing to any Timeshare termination or exit procedure with an individual or company, seek independent advise and fully research any company you are thinking of working with.

It is also important to remember that purchasing a Timeshare should NEVER be viewed as a financial investment. Timeshare is an investment in lifestyle, in future holidays and family time together. There is almost no resale value to a Timeshare.

The mis-selling of holiday products is, unfortunately, common practice within the holiday industry and these type of crimes often go unreported by the most vulnerable in our society and criminal convictions are few and far between.

If you have purchased a Lifestyle / Concierge Service, a Timeshare or a ‘Holiday Points’ based product from a resort or company and feel unhappy with the service, or feel you have been mis-sold this product, please get in touch with us to discuss how we may be able to help you with a possible Money Back Claim.
